Hybrid Flooring FAQs
What are the hybrid flooring pros and cons?
Hybrid flooring brings together the advantages of most of the flooring choices out there and manages to avoid most of the weaknesses too. Hybrid flooring is affordable, durable, and easy to install, it's water-resistant, scratch-resistant, and 100% VOC/Ortho-phthalate free. The only thing is that it may not have as long-term durability as Tiles, and they might be thicker than other floating floors options with all their layers.
What is hybrid flooring made of?
This is a difficult one to answer as there are quite a few layers to Hybrid floating floorboards.
Beaumonts specialises in the SP Core type of Hybrid: Multi-layer protective coating which includes an anti-bacterial finish, decorative layer with structure, a stone based polymer core that is water-resistant, the tight lock click system layer, and sound absorbing pad.
Is hybrid flooring waterproof?
The SP Core Hybrid flooring range is totally water-resistant, Hybrid floorboards click together nice and snug, but moisture can still get in between the floorboards. They are not a moisture barrier for areas such as a shower cubicle.
Importantly, a plank can always be waterproof on its own, but that doesn’t necessarily mean your floor will be fully waterproof once laid (unlike a tiled floor). That’s why we say water-resistant when talking about hard flooring (in fact, it’s a requirement in the building industry)!
How to clean hybrid flooring?
Like all flooring, it's encouraged to clean up spills as soon as you can. As hybrid is water-resistant, it can be wet mopped with a micro fibre mop, simply clean with any PH Neutral cleaner. Make sure it’s not boiling hot. We recommend a BONA mop and cleaning products.
GOOD NEWS, the use of residential steam mops and spray mops on this product is allowed. Use it at the lowest power with a suitable soft pad, and do not hold the steam mop on one spot for an extended period of time (longer than 30 seconds). Refer to the mop’s manufacturer instructions for proper usage.
How is hybrid flooring installed?
Hybrid flooring is a floating floor style installation with simple click-locking technology. A patented interlocking system that makes installation faster with a very strong connection between the boards.
Hybrid must not be used in bathrooms, shower cubicles, laundries or toilets.
